John Timpson of the eponymous high street chain of cobblers is to attend Chepstow Racecourse’s Jumps Festival for a public interview and g session for his new book ‘Under Orders, The Diary of a Racechorse Owner’s Husband’. 5lb6h
Chepstow racegoers will be able to hear John’s story and buy copies of his book alongside seven top quality races on Saturday 8th October.
The Totepool October Jumps Festival takes place on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th October. The meeting represents the start of the winter jumping programme in the UK and there is £300,000 of prize money on offer over the two days.
John Timpson’s interview will take place in the Parade Ring after the first race and a book g session will take place in the Owners & Trainers marquee at 3pm – all welcome.
Sales of the book through http://UnderOrders.co.uk and at Chepstow Racecourse on 8th October will raise money for the Injured Jockeys Fund.
The feature race on day one of the Jumps Festival is the Grade 3, £50,000 Totepool Silver Trophy. Previous winners include Bradbury Star, Don’t Push It and Court Minstrel who produced a 40/1 surprise last year.
The day also features a Jump Legends charity race in aid of the Bob Champion Cancer Trust. Previous riders include Graham Bradley, Jim Culloty and Adrian Maguire. The Legends race will take place before the first ‘official’ race and is currently scheduled for 1.30pm.
Day two features the £35,000 Grade Two Tote Persian War Novices’ Hurdle. Previous winners include Monsignor, Silviniaco Conti and Fingal Bay.
As well as top class racing, there will be plenty of food and drink stands in the Countryside Market. There will also be live music before and during racing in the Bonanza Boy Marquee.
Under Orders, The Diary of a Racehorse Owner’s Husband is published by Icon Books and costs £14.99. For each copy sold through http://UnderOrders.co.uk or at Chepstow Racecourse on 8th October, John will donate £4 to the Injured Jockeys Fund. Books will be for sale in the Owners & Trainers Marquee at Chepstow – if you do not have an O&T badge simply ask the doorman about the book and you will be able to pop in and pick up a copy.
