Millions of people worldwide will watch the Grand National live this year and they should be in for a treat judging by some of the potential runners in the race. 564x1j

While two-time winner Tiger Roll has been ruled out by his owner Michael O’Leary, there are plenty of other interesting contenders for the marathon event.

Read on as we look at four horses who could be serious challengers to add their name to the illustrious Grand National roll of honour.

Melon 3p5u6i

Melon has been second at the Cheltenham Festival on four occasions and could be interesting if trainer Willie Mullins opts to run him in the National.

The 10-year-old previously last ran at the track in the 2019 Aintree Hurdle, suffering a crashing fall when two lengths up at the third last flight.

This normally sound jumper has run two fine races in Grade 1s this season, but is finding it increasingly difficult to win at that level.

The unique nature of the National could spark a resurgence in Melon’s fortunes and the horse could be a massive danger if he runs.

Delta Work 6b712s

Delta Work is another horse that is finding it tough to compete at the top level, but has been handed a workable mark in this year’s National.

The nine-year-old finished sixth on his most recent outing in the Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown, leaving trainer Gordon Elliott pondering his next move.

Elliott has a decent record in the National, having trained Silver Birch (2007) and Tiger Roll (2018 & 2019) to win the prestigious race.

Delta Work has the ideal mix of class and stamina needed to come out on top at Aintree and is well worth monitoring in the betting.

Lostintranslation 45z33

It does not seem too long ago that Lostintranslation was being talked about as potential Cheltenham Gold Cup winner, but things haven’t quite gone to plan.

The ten-year-old ran a stinker in the King George VI Chase at Kempton Park on Boxing Day, but a mark of 11st gives him every chance of running a big race in the National.

When Lostintranslation puts everything together he is an excellent jumper, and the Aintree fences could be right up his street.

The horse is due to run in the Ascot Chase on Saturday – a solid performance there would see his odds slashed for the National.

Snow Leopardess 5s1g2

Snow Leopardess is bidding to become the first grey mare to win the race, and should have a fighting chance of achieving the feat off just 10st 3lb.

Charlie Longsdon’s charge returned to racing in November 2019, having given birth to a foal during a two-year absence from the track.

She won the Becher Chase over the National fences in December, before romping to a comfortable 12-length victory at Exeter earlier this month.

Snow Leopardess may be one of the most popular horse racing tips in the run up to the National given her backstory, so taking the ante-post price now could be a sensible move.
