Fashion Trends for Cheltenham Ladies Day 3t5b5t
Ladies Day is one of the most popular days at the Cheltenham Festival. Women from around the country don their favourite frock, best pair of heels and their most extravagant fascinator, ready for a day of sipping champagne, placing bets and hopefully winning big on the horses.
The fashion is, on occasion, sometimes just as important as the horses, and the focus on Ladies Day is often fixed on what the ladies are wearing rather than which horses are winning.
The festival is already well under way and we’ve seen some key trends, as well as some rather outlandish ones, from the women who have attended. There have been some obvious trends that we’ve seen so far that we feel are likely to be prominent on Ladies Day on March 15th.
Here are our top three trends that you’re likely to be seeing on the day, and if you’re attending Ladies Day, we hope it can give you a little inspiration.
Heritage
We’ve seen lots of traditional tweed, beige and khaki tones over the beginning of the Cheltenham Festival. The heritage country style is one that is a staple at any horse racing festival, for both women and men, so it’s no surprise there was an abundance of tweed, khaki and beige rich tones and fabrics throughout the first few days.
Fascinators and hats in a similar colour palette are a simple way to add a sophisticated nod to the trend. Riding boots are also perfect to capsulate the heritage trend. Try heeled variants for a sophisticated look.

Come rain or shine, woman have brought a little sunshine to Cheltenham this year. Brightly coloured dresses, accessories and shoes were plentiful at the beginning, and with Ladies Day being one of the main events in Cheltenham’s calendar, it’ll be no surprise if we see a lot of brights on the day.
Pops of bright colours work on dresses, shoes, fascinators, scarves and accessories. If you’re feeling particularly brave, clash the colours of your dress and accessories to really stand out from the crowd.

Patterns is another reoccurring trend we’ve seen so far from the ladies at Cheltenham. If you’re a little shy to wear a bright, solid colour on the day, try working the pattern trend to add a little glam to your ensemble.
Women on the day have been known to wear beautiful floral patterned dresses, skirts and jackets in a variety of colours. Patterns are worn best if they are toned down with planin accessories, such as nute, or bright coloured shoes, or tops if you’re opting for a patterned skirt on the day.
